Short answer: yes. Telehealth is regulated nationally in Brazil, and nothing in those rules limits it to Brazilian citizens or residents. The longer answer is more useful, because it tells you what you can actually expect to get.

The framework, in plain terms

Brazil regulated telehealth by law in 2022, and the Federal Council of Medicine (CFM) sets the professional rules for how it is practised. Two consequences matter to a visitor:

  • Documents have national validity. A prescription, exam request or medical certificate issued in a telehealth consultation is valid across the whole country.
  • The doctor needs registration in their own state only — not in the state where you happen to be. A doctor registered in Santa Catarina can see you in Bahia or Amazonas.

There is also no requirement that you be a citizen, a resident, or hold a CPF.

What you need on your side

  • A device with a camera and a usable connection
  • Identification — your passport is fine
  • A list of the medicines you take, with generic names, and your allergies
  • Somewhere reasonably private to talk

Are online prescriptions accepted at pharmacies?

Yes. A prescription issued by a Brazilian-licensed doctor and signed under Brazilian rules is dispensed like any other. What is not accepted is a prescription written by your doctor at home — that is a separate issue, and the reason many travellers end up needing a consultation here.

For medicines under special control — the ones needing a yellow or blue prescription form — the rules are stricter, but it is not out of reach. Say so when you book so the right route can be confirmed for your case.

What a remote consultation cannot do

It cannot examine you physically, image you, or run tests in the room. It is not for emergencies: for chest pain, difficulty breathing, serious injury or any life-threatening symptom, call 192.

A responsible remote consultation includes being told plainly when you need to be seen in person. That is a feature, not a failure.
